Chapter 7

The convoy arrived at the inn. 

They went to their rented rooms.

Seto, distressed, said, “They're going to make me a heartling. It happened similarly to a seer friend of mine. Cassius wanted to see him. He disappeared and hasn't returned.”

Ace said, “This heartling program is insanity. I must do my best to resolve this.”

“There is a solution,” Seto said.

Chapter 8

“What must be done?” Ace asked.

“We make an alliance with the dragons,” Seto said. “Instead of the wretched heartling program we form an alliance with the dragons, part-dragons and High Point.”

“How could this be done?” Ace.

“Being a part-dragon I can communicate with dragons. I can conjure symbols that they understand. The dragons can conjure symbols that I understand. We go to dragon territory and I ask them for an alliance.”

“Could this be dangerous?” Ace asked.

“The dragons won't be hostile,” Seto said.

“If it can bring an end to this heartling program we’ll go with you to help,” said Ace.

Seto said, “After we’ve formed an alliance with the dragons we tell this to Cassius. You or I could then sway him to stop the heartling program once he hears about the alliance.”
